True Stories

 LP 2024

This is an electro-acoustic project from 2024, with recordings made between 2000 and 2024, mostly put together in November-December 2024, into 7 pieces of varying length.

The record is released on the Austrian label Forst Rekords ran by Robert Trömer, for digital streaming, and an LP is going to be pressed and released in 2026.

Supported by Norwegian Arts Council and The Composers’ Remuneration Fund

Thanks to all above, Kristine Tjøgersen, family and friends

My original idea for the cover was very different. It looked like this:

But due to strange regulations for music streaming, my cover was rejected, with the message

And speaking of strange regulations, another also not quite understandable hinderance this record met on its way to being released, was that

the original track nr. 4, the quiet and thoughtful 11 minutes piece called “The background music changes” was rejected due to its “exceeding the silence time limit”. Apparently it had something like 15 seconds of silence in it – not in one continuous stretch, but cumulatively, during its 11:20 duration. This was too much for the distribution services for the digital music of today.

The silences are of course a part of the composition, to make the piece breathe a bit. I contacted the service and explained this to them, but to no avail.

So that composition ended up as an LP only track. But you can also hear it here.
